How are your services different from those offered by my neighborhood landscaper?
Anyone can purchase a lawnmower and a truck and title themselves landscapers, and while the neighborhood companies offer a “mow, blow and go” service that can be of value in a time crunch, you should choose a landscape architect or designer for design and planning. At LandPatterns, we have degreed and licensed professionals with over 50 years of experience, so you can rest assured that your project will be carefully and expertly planned and constructed.
What is S.M.A.R.T. landscaping?

T: Timely in expression; it looks great at installation and even better as it matures.
Why should I start with a landscape plan?
Starting your landscaping with a professionally developed landscape design is a good idea for several reasons. First, it provides the blueprint for your project so you can prepare for sun or shade, watering, plant spacing, etc. Secondly, even if you don’t have the time or resources to plant all at once, you still have a solid plan to go by. Having a professionally-designed landscape saves you both time and money in the long run.
I have a small yard. Do you only take large-scale projects?
No. We believe that everyone deserves good design, whether you have a small courtyard or acres of land.
I want a beautiful landscape, but do not want to break the bank. What are my options?
The best idea is to start with a plan. We offer design-only services, with which you will receive a plan and have the flexibility to install as little or as much as you like as resources allow.
Can I pick out the plants and other landscape materials I like?
Of course. Our design process is a very interactive process through which we gather your feedback, including plant and material preferences. We want you to be happy with the end product, so we encourage you to voice your likes and dislikes as we create a tailored and unique landscape just for you.
How long does it take to do an average landscape project?
There is no universal answer to this question, as each client and project is unique. However, once we meet with you to discuss your project, we will provide you with a timeline.
How much can I expect to spend putting in a new landscape?
This might be the most common question we get from homeowners. The answer is that there is no across-the-board answer. Most of the cost of any kind of construction is labor and the more laborious the task, the higher the cost. It is very helpful for you, as the homeowner, to sit down and figure out a budget before you meet with the designer. Don’t be afraid to tell them your budget up front so that they can design with your budget in mind so you are not surprised when the design that you requested turns out to be more costly than you anticipated and are comfortable with.
How do I choose which landscape designer to use?
We recommend that you do a bit of research online before choosing a designer. Look at their website to see if they have experience with the items that you are considering adding to your landscape. Next, interview several designers before making your choice. Choose the one with whom you have the best rapport and you feel that you can trust.
